Forthcoming

The first part of the Sound Proof 3 exhibition will be held at the B-side Festival in September.

The Sound Proof project is to run for 5 years up 2012 and features artist responses to the Olympics site in Stratford, London as it is increasingly transformed in preparation for the Olympics in 2012. Last year's Sound Proof 2 focused on sound as artefact with the multiple for the exhibition as a vinyl recording. In 2008 the first Sound Proof (co-curated with Colm Lally) featured sound as cartography and had as multiple a folio of maps created by the artists in the exhibition along with a CD of soundworks.

This year Sound Proof 3 will be a dialogue between two sites of the future Olympics, connecting them in a conversation between the artists in the exhibition and the sites themselves. Sound Proof 3 will link the London site of the 2012 Olympics in Hackney with the Dorset site in Weymouth & Portland. Working in collaboration with PVA MediaLab in Bridport, we selected two artists based in London and two based in Dorset to create responses from their own site-specific perspective. Artists resident in each location will communicate using the mechanism of the 140-character live format [Twitter] feed and creating sound as text from their own site-specific perspective.

B-Side Multi Media Festival will host the live feed event in September curated by Julie Penfold. The exhibition of text works curated by Monica Biagioli will take place at Homerton Library in Hackney in November this year. Sound Proof multiples are now part of the Mapping The Change project at the Hackney Museum in London. The series of Sound Proof exhibitions is produced by BAR projects.
